Buff Monster is the alias of an American artist born in 1979 in Hawaii. His work is defined by a bright, cheerful aesthetic rooted in Japanese pop culture, ice cream imagery, and heavy metal music. After studying art history at the University of Southern California, he began wheat-pasting colorful characters across the streets of Los Angeles in the early 2000s. Buff Monster's signature motifs include melting pink blobs and smiling one-eyed characters. He has exhibited in galleries worldwide, collaborated with major brands, and produced a collectible toy line. He is based in Los Angeles.
