Peter Tunney (b. 1961, New York, NY) is a Neo-Pop artist who works with language, text, and collage. A former Wall Street executive, Tunney turned to art and opened his first gallery in New York in 1991. His work probes culture by mining images from newspapers, magazines, and art books and reinterpreting them through his own unique perspective, with recent works featuring optimistic phrases and quotes colorfully painted over collaged headlines. His signature messages — Gratitude, Don't Panic, The Time Is Always Now, Fear Less, Love More — have reached a global audience. Tunney has owned and operated ground-floor studios and galleries in lower Manhattan for over 30 years, open daily and free to the public. For the last eight years he has also maintained a gallery in the heart of Miami's Wynwood Walls. He lives and works between New York and Miami.
